SUPPORTED LIVING SERVICES

WCAY provides Supported Living Services to clients that live independently in their own homes or apartment.  These individuals require nearly the same daily care services but are not able to or want to reside in a Facility.  Services for these individuals are on an “As Needed Basis” from 20 hours per week to a Maximum of 744 hours per month (three 8 hour shifts with one Care Provider).    Funding for this service is usually provided by the Regional Centers.

A key element in our Service Plan is to teach self-sufficiency and independence to the best of the client’s ability given his own personal challenges. Our ultimate goal is to play the most prominent role in the developmental processes of our clients which over time will help with the establishment of confidence in their ability to leave us and move on to a life possessed with the skills needed to live on their own and take care of their personal needs without assistance or minimal assistance at best in the areas of:

  • Self-care, housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility.

  • Learn effective ways to communicate needs, solve problems and resolve interpersonal conflict.

  • Pursuit of hobbies and leisure interests as well as participation in social and recreational activities in the community to eliminate the need to associate with individuals who engage in negative or inappropriate behaviors and activities.

  • Through “Day Programs”, Regional Center involvement and funding, work skills are developed and/or job training is provided in a number of professions which provide clients with a sense of accomplishment that hopefully will one day translate into obtaining the ability to provide financially for themselves.

  • Money Management Assistance – Whenever there is a need to assist a client with management of his financial resources WCAY management and staff provide needed guidance and support. Regardless of the source of funding should a client need assistance, a member of WCAY will establish a program that offers detailed written verification of all transactions relating to the clients funds.
